You guessed it by the name, the Chinese money plant is said to attract wealth and abundance to your life. If you want to get serious you can place a coin in its soil which is said to help to spontaneously kick-start the attraction of wealth to your life. It’s famous for its lure of bringing good fortune, money and abundance to its owner and as a gift it offers a wish for a bountiful future.

It’s also particularly back in trend, frequently featured in Scandinavian interiors with its pancake-shaped leaves providing a welcome burst of colour against white walls.

Plant Type Indoor Houseplant

Pilea Peperomioides

Sun Exposure

Your Chinese Money Plant, Pilea, will do best in a bright, indirect sunny spot in your home or office. It doesn’t like direct sun as it will burn its leaves. In order to prevent your Pilea from growing lopsided, rotate it regularly since it grows towards the sun. This plant can adapt to lower light areas but the leaves will turn a darker green and the plant will spread out more.

Plant for thought

As the Pilea  loves indict sunlight, they can  love a spot in front of a window where they can get filtered light. They do well on small shelves and window sills, bringing a burst of colour to any white wall or space.

Water

Allow the soil to dry between waterings, as Pilea do not like soggy soil. Watch the leaves, if they start to look a little droopy, it needs some water. In warmer weather, they need to be watered more.

Planting | Re-potting

M I N N I K I N packaging is not your Pilea’s ideal long-term home. You must take it out of its packaging to water and return it to its hat box once dry. In time you can either place your plant into your favourite pot directly and then take it out to water or replant it in Spring in a slightly larger container which has good drainage, this will help good growth.
